My personal position on A.I. / Synthetic Voice / Voice Modeling
I do not participate in any way in the area of synthetic or A.I. voice, because it’s phony, like sawdust in my sausage. I am passionate about authenticity. I care about the craft of acting, which is a way for humans to communicate to each other vital truths of the human condition. I think there is inherent value – value in and of itself – in human-crafted art. I make a product that you and I can be proud of. Would you take pride in plagiarism, if it got your book written? I find it astonishing that there are authors who spend their spirit writing words that they then are satisfied to have a machine recite, rather than a human perform. I’m not against machines; they have their place, but machines don’t have a soul and they have no business in areas where souls belong. Hire a human. Have the better and more ethical product.
